Aberdeen Lofts
Cambridge, MA
The building was built in 1914 and was used for lumber storage, then as a laundry supply, then as a factory (first for uniforms and coats and later for wooden boxes). More recently it has been used for book storage (by the Coop) and as office space. In 2006, the building was completely redone into luxury lofts.
The project was the conversion of a two-story former factory building into 55 loft condominiums totaling 55,000 sf. The building has a two-story lobby and stair addition and a new clerestory structure on the roof. The site was developed with an entry court and drop-off area, green space and surface parking.
This secluded building is nestled between Fresh Pond Reservoir and Mount Auburn Cemetery in West Cambridge. Aberdeen Lofts is just minutes from Harvard Square, with access to terrific shopping and restaurants, public transportation and major auto routes.
