Saint Gabriel's - Restoring and reimagining a former monastery and church as a housing community.
February 21st, 2019
BH+A is the Historical Architect on this Project being envisioned as a housing community on a hilltop, with views out to Boston, at the center of a historic Renaissance Revival Church and Mission-style Monastery. The Project will rehabilitate St. Gabriel’s Monastery, a Boston Landmark Building, and St. Gabriel's Church, both of which are currently in disrepair, to their original grandeur. The Project site will be extensively landscaped, and includes a 3-acre public park, with mature trees, an historic cemetery and rosary garden. Other important existing features on the site will be retained and restored, including the Pierce House, Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, and the verdant landscaping along Washington Street—designed by the Olmsted Brothers—which will buffer the Project from nearby residential areas.
